I thank God for…
Every year, my family has the tradition of writing down a few things we’re thankful for in a little journal. Beyond making us thankful in the moment, it’s also really cool to read back entries in the future years and see what was going on and what we cared about.
Here’s my entry for this past thanksgiving:
I thank God...
For the freedom he has given us in Christ—the freedom to say no to the world and yes to him
For bringing me to the completion of my college years and to the doorstep of the next chapter in my life
For a band of godly brothers and friends who have lifted me up and helped me stand.
For my ever-growing family and their practical expressions of love even as I’ve spent most of my time away from home.
- esp for my dad, who takes care of us and routinely puts our needs above his own
- And for my mom, who holds our household together, making sure the everyday tasks of the house happen, and who has continued her role of teacher past homeschooling, showing us by example how to be live healthily, how to meet others’ practical needs, and how to serve God in the home
