Thoughts after the wedding
What a great wedding! I’ve been to three weddings in my adult life, and this was definitely the one I had the most fun at. (ICYMI, here are my thoughts from the night before the wedding)
This was partly due to the venue. I mean, it’s hard to beat a castle as a wedding venue. But in addition, the venue supplied the catering and the decorations, so there was very little that we had to worry about. This significantly cut down on the stress. And the floor plan of the castle was very simple: it basically had one big room that everything happened in. So, all the reception tables were in long lines perpendicular to the front, and people just sat in the same places for the ceremony and reception. Nobody had to move or go anywhere. Everything was just simple.
In addition, I was happy with my wardrobe. I had earlier had to obtain a grey two-piece suit to match the other groomsmen. Leading up to the wedding, I did not think that grey suited me, and I thought the suit I had gotten was a bit tight for me. But after wearing the suit for 10 hours straight, I can confidently say that I like it quite a bit, and I don’t even mind the color.
Also, there were a lot of people there that I knew. It’s so much nicer to be in a large group of people when you know a sizable percentage of them. So even I didn’t know the groom or his family at all, I did know a lot of the people who came out for the bride.
Overall, it was just a very low-stress time. Even without a wedding planner organizing it all, it didn’t feel crazy. Maybe that’s just because I was a groomsman instead of a bridesmaid (they spent HOURS getting ready, while we all got dressed in about 15 minutes). But regardless, I think the whole day went quite well.
